Jesse James JR

Successful Sire Jesse James Jr Dead at 16

VEGUITA, NM—AUGUST 26, 2017—Jess James Jr, a very successful sire, died Thursday following a long and hard fought battle with laminitis MJ Farms announced.

Regal in his bloodlines, a stakes winner and grade 1-placed runner, Jesses James Jr was bred in Texas by Charlie and Dixie Patterson and campaigned by Charlie Patterson and Tom Lipar.

The son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry won or placed in 12 of 21 career starts and banked $167,725. He won the -irst Down Dash Handicap, was second in the Golden State Derby(G1), Bellflower Handicap and third in the Los Alamitos Super Derby(G1). He was also a finalist in the Los Alamitos Winter Championship(G1)-twice, and Southern California Derby(G1).

Jesse James Jr was owned by Mac Murray and Janis Spencer Murray and stood at the couple's MJ Farms near Veguita, New Mexico. He was the #13 Leading Sire of Money Earners in 2017 at the time of his death.

The sorrel stallion was out of the G1-placed First Down Dash mare Loose Lips, dam of 12 ROM and 11 winners including stakes winners Jesses James Jr SI 98 (see above), Jesstified SI 103 ($116,130), Loose Teller SI 90 ($71,603), stakes-placed Jess Lips SI 107 ($398,529), etc.

Jerrys Disco Moon

Jerry's Disco Moon was the AQHA Northwest High-Point Three Year-Old Colt and a stakes qualifier. He is also a half brother to Jet A Beam, NFR barrel competitor and barrel futurity winner of over $300,000. Jerry's Disco Moon is eligible for the Valley Girls Barrel Racing Association Futurities and Derbies.   Jerry's half-sister, Moon Fling, is a Grade 1 Stakes TAAA winner.  She has produced many outstanding foals who have won on the track and in the arena. We have two-year olds and three-years old by Jerrys Disco Moon  for sale; some are out of the Dash for Perks family.  Jerrys Disco Moon was a multiple Stakes qualifier and the Northwest High Point Race Stallion with limited outs.  He was noted for being an outstanding gate horse with exceptional starts.  Being out of a Lady Bugs Moon daughter not much more needs to be said about his dam's family.  Standing 15'1 most of Jerry's off-spring are following his style.  He had one to the track in '03, Stakes place and multiple Stakes qualifier, Pittses Big Sky Guy, with limited starts ended up Montana's Reserve 3-year old Champion, and was third overall in the Northwest (Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon). Look for his foals to do big things in the barrel and performance industries.

Playboys Buck Fever
Playboys buckfever.jpg
Playboys buckfever PED.jpg

Playboys Buck Fever is a beautiful, strong and well built, terrifically minded, gritty and versatile athlete. He has been shown in Nat. Reined Cow horse events where he cuts, reins, and fence works; being high score many times in each of the 3 disciplines. Mike trained and showed Buck Fever. We all enjoy his easily trainable colts. Mike is now too busy ranching to show much as the shows have gotten longer and so far away. He kind of burnt out and had to pick his priorities which are to be a rancher , cowboy and a good Grandpa. Under Mike's tutorage, Buck Fever is a NRCHA SUPREME REINED COW HORSE, and the SIRE OF TWO NRCHA SUPREME REINED COW HORSES.

Besides an outstanding performance horse, Buck Fever and his colts are wonderful using horses that make cowboying more enjoyable! He is proven in the rodeo arena as well. His fantastic mind handles pressure, and he is fast to steers and handles them like they are nothing on the end of the rope. When he stops in the heeling, the head horse faces right around if it wants to or not. Buck Fever has thrown several top-notch rope horses and barrel horses.

We won the breeding to the legendary Freckles Playboy in a raffle. I told Mike that I was going to win the raffle, breed Tsarina and raise us a Buckskin Stallion - he said 'alright'. Tsarina Chexanic was a great mare that we bought from Greg Ward while still on her mother. She is a full sister to the stallions; *Bueno Chexinic, *Bueno Fritzi Nic, and *Nic Chex. Tsarina won five reined cow horse futurities, was hurt in a stall at a show and retired. A year after having Buck Fever, she got stuck on her back and died. It was such sadness to lose Tsarina and has been such a joy to gain the kind of stallion as Playboys Buck Fever.

Playboy's Buck Fever's colts are knockout's with their sire's big eye and substantial build. They are wonderfully natured and have great athleticism. He throws quite a bit of color. These are versatile horses that can 'do it all.

Buck Fever is not rattled by anything; he does his job with zeal and acts like it was nothing. He is a strong athlete with grit and a bonus of speed. He is strong, smart, cowy and extremely well mannered.

We believe that Playboys Buck Fever is a great horse. He is very balanced , has a huge heart and a strong mind. His colts have shown that he passes this greatness down, having earned over $270,000 with limited showing in the NRCHA; they have also won plenty at rodeos and have certainly made a lot of cowgirls and cowboys happy!
